The picturesque greens of Redwood Canyon Golf Course played host to the H.A.R.D. Foundation’s 37th Annual Golf Tournament on October 9th. With over 20 sponsors and 109 golfers in attendance, it was a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and charitable spirit.
Golfers teed off after a warm noon registration, enjoying a bucket of balls at the driving range and a satisfying lunch before embarking on a challenging 18-hole journey. The day wasn’t just about golf; it featured exciting games and contests. Connor Sterritt, a long drive pro from Charity Golf International, demonstrated the art of hitting a golf ball over 400 yards, leaving players in awe. Participants also tried their luck at a hole-in-one contest with a chance to win $10,000 and tested their driving skills by attempting to drive marshmallows from the tee box.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, golfers concluded their rounds and gathered for a delightful buffet dinner. The evening was punctuated by raffle prize winners and a thrilling silent auction. The auction showcased more than 50 items, including an autographed photo of Klay Thompson, an all-expense-paid Yoga Retreat in Sedona, exquisite jewelry, a Picasso lithograph, and a selection of Damacus Steel custom knives.
The crowning moment of the evening was the announcement of the tournament winners. The Castro Valley Yoga Team emerged victorious, shooting an impressive 18 under par 53 round. Kudos to Jason, Tim, Jeff, and Kurt for their outstanding performance!
This year’s tournament raised nearly $60,000 to support the renovation of the Sulphur Creek Nature Center. A heartfelt thanks to our generous sponsors, especially Shirley Crawford Balch, whose combined support contributed over $40,000 to the cause. The success of the event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of more than 20 volunteers, who worked tirelessly to set up and wrap up.
