Each year, the H.A.R.D. Foundation has the privilege of recognizing individuals and organizations whose generosity, creativity, and commitment make a lasting difference in our community. This year’s honorees remind us that philanthropy comes in many forms—and that when people and partners step forward, our parks, programs, and community spaces thrive.
Individual of the Year: Patrick Landeza

Patrick Landeza embodies what it means to give back from the heart. Over the past year, Patrick found innovative and personal ways to support the H.A.R.D. Foundation—turning moments of celebration into opportunities to uplift the community.
Patrick hosted two fundraising events that together raised nearly $5,000 to support our mission. One was a live concert at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre, where all proceeds benefited the Foundation. The other was his birthday celebration, where Patrick invited friends and family to honor the occasion by making gifts in support of parks and recreation.
What makes Patrick’s generosity so special is not just the funds raised, but the spirit behind them. By bringing people together through music, celebration, and shared purpose, Patrick demonstrated how individual passion can create meaningful community impact.
Organization of the Year: Dow Chemical

This year’s Organization of the Year award recognizes Dow Chemical for its outstanding commitment to environmental education and community well-being.
Dow Chemical provided a $10,000 grant to support the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, helping advance hands-on learning opportunities focused on nature, conservation, and stewardship. This investment will enhance educational programming and ensure that visitors of all ages can better connect with and understand the unique shoreline environment we are fortunate to have in our region.
Beyond the financial support, Dow’s partnership reflects a broader dedication to sustainability and corporate citizenship. Their collaboration with the H.A.R.D. Foundation demonstrates how strong partnerships between nonprofits and local employers can create lasting benefits for the entire community.
Thank You to Our Community Champions
Patrick Landeza and Dow Chemical represent two powerful sides of the same story: individuals and organizations working together to strengthen our community. Their generosity helps ensure that parks remain vibrant, programs remain accessible, and future generations continue to benefit from shared public spaces.
We are deeply grateful for their leadership and support—and for all those who join us in making recreation, nature, and community connection possible for everyone.
