The Hayward Area Recreation & Park District (H.A.R.D.) Foundation proudly welcomed its inaugural Youth Ambassador cohort, comprising 14 remarkable young leaders, this past Saturday, November 16th. The cohort’s first gathering took place at the historic Mt. Eden Mansion within Mt. Eden Park in South Hayward, where they embarked on an inspiring orientation session
During this orientation, the Youth Ambassadors gained valuable insights into the H.A.R.D. Foundation’s mission and its role in supporting the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D.). They explored the structure and significance of a nonprofit Board of Directors, discovered their own unique responsibilities and opportunities as Youth Ambassadors, and reviewed volunteer expectations for their tenure.
The inaugural cohort represents a diverse group of students from high schools across the H.A.R.D. service area. Two exceptional representatives were selected from each school: Castro Valley High, San Leandro High, Tennyson High, Arroyo High, Mt. Eden High, San Lorenzo High, and Hayward High, chosen from an impressive pool of 186 applicants.
Youth Ambassadors will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the H.A.R.D. Foundation and local youth. They will provide vital feedback on youth needs within the community, advocate on behalf of their peers, and actively engage through social media, friendship networks, and community outreach. Moreover, these dedicated young leaders will contribute their time and talents by volunteering at H.A.R.D. Foundation events and activities throughout their term.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to the H.A.R.D. Foundation’s first-ever Youth Ambassadors! To learn more about this dynamic program and the difference these young leaders are making, visit https://thehardfoundation.org/youthambassadors/.
